George Murrell Shoulders
George Murrell is Director of the Orthopaedic Research Institute at St George Hospital and Professor at the UNSW. He was the 1984 South Australian Rhodes Scholar and is a St Mark’s College Distinguished Collegian.
Professor Murrell specialises in shoulder surgery and has a special interest in arthroscopic methods to repair and restore damaged ligaments and tendons. He is very happy to manage patients who live locally, from other parts of Sydney, the country, interstate and from overseas.
Professor Murrell and his team are world leaders in techniques to diagnose and manage shoulder disorders. These diagnostic techniques include detailed clinical baseline examination, ultrasound (both grey scale ultrasound and elastography), strength test and specific tests for the rotator cuff, for stiffness, instability and acromioclavicular (AC) joint disorders. An accurate diagnosis is key to managing shoulder conditions either with rehab or minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery or surgical reconstruction.
